Toyota has begun development testing for a new Supra race car, set to be entered into Japan's Super GT series under the GT300 class. But unlike the Supra road car, which uses a turbocharged inline-six, this one will have a naturally aspirated V-8 under the hood.
According to dailysportscar.com, the GT300 Supra chassis has been developed from scratch, meaning it's not based on the road car like the Supra GT4. It's wider, lower, lighter, and more aerodynamically advanced.
The engine is reportedly the same 3.4-liter unit found in the Super GT Prius, which has been competing since the 2016 season. Somehow, it sounds even better in this application.
