With a crystal chandelier sparkling overhead in Silver Street Studios and an eager throng of Ferrari aficionados with smart phones at the ready, Ferrari of Houston and Ferrari of The Woodlands slipped the red silk covering from the spanking new SF90 Stradale.
Oohs, aahs and applause greeted the Supercar that boasts 1,000 horsepower from a V8 twin turbo engine, the first series production plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
Wait, a hybrid electric Ferrari? As Car and Driver notes this new design is a “hypercar here to shake things up.”
More than 250 Ferrari owners and friends gathered for the reveal with Giuseppe Risi, owner of both dealerships, and general manager Tony Nevotti welcoming the well-heeled throng.
“This new model from Ferrari is creating a new space in the marketplace for our sports cars. The SF90 Stradale is a true production Supercar,” Nevotti told the gathering. “This space has been traditionally occupied by very limited edition, low volume sport cars.
“Ferrari has launched this new model with the intent to be able to satisfy the Ferrari owners that were not able to get previous Supercar models.”
Woo-hoo! It’s hard to imagine a hybrid that can soar from zero to 60-mph in a 2.5 second sprint. But that’s what Ferrari is announcing of the car that tops out at 211 mph. No Toyota Prius, this.
The beauty of the car was not lost on spectators who cheered with the rumble of the engine start-up, which gave all the opportunity to view the futuristic cockpit with 3-D graphics. Smart phones snapping away once again.
With Ferraris deemed as true works of art, it was only fitting that the evening included a range of other Ferrari models accompanied by local artists creating pieces inspired from one of the most powerful brands in the world. Highlight of the artistry was in the hands of aerosol artist Gonzo247, who worked his magic on the spot in a one-of-a-kind Ferrari race car in partnership with Houston-PPF, a local business specializing in luxury automotive paint protection.
Filling the party space with Ferrari wizardry, Diamond Integrations streamed larger than life Ferrari footage throughout the evening.
The trés tony gathering featured delectable bites from Ronnie Killen’s STQ and TMX restaurants and Amalfi Italian restaurant complete with wine pairings from JNSQ and Landmark vineyards and signature cocktails from Tanqueray, Johnnie Walker and Ketel One. Entertainment from DJ Senega rounded out the memorable evening.
