Ford will reveal what’s being billed as an “ultra high-performance supercar” version of the Ford GT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month.
The American manufacturer, which recently completed its four-year factory GTE-Pro run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is understood to be unveiling a special edition road car, potentially in tribute to its Le Mans class-winning GTE machine.
Ford Performance global director Hermann Salenbauch and Multimatic’s chief technical officer Larry Holt will be in attendance for the launch on July 4 at the famed British automotive and racing event.
Details on the car are unclear, but it does not give any indication of the Blue Oval’s future future racing direction.
Ford Performance global motorsports director Mark Rushbrook ruled out a program for the FIA and ACO’s recently confirmed Hypercar class, stating that its prototype future could potentially be in IMSA’s DPi ranks instead.
It’s understood a GT3-spec Ford is also still being considered, with Rushbrook declining comment whether a decision has been made to green-light a customer-based program.
Among the other Ford models set to be on display in Goodwood include the No. 66 Ford GT that recently took part at Le Mans, along with the 2018 NASCAR championship-winning Team Penske Ford Fusion race car.
The all-new Focus ST and 760 hp Mustang Shelby GT500, meanwhile, will be making their U.K. debuts
